New Year's Eve

Our New Year's Eve was fantastic! We don't have big parties or stay out all night; what we do is spend time together. It's like an extended "family night" with it's very own food traditions!

The weather this year was unseasonably warm...just the way I like it :) We spent the afternoon outside checking out new toys and revisiting old ones.
The boys both got Nerf compound bows for Christmas which we quickly discovered are more for outside than inside! We set up a target and they went at it!
Megan got a lesson from Dad :)

 Brandon, the Human Target!

Then it was time for bikes!
Nick decided not to ride but wanted  to tag along anyway :)

When we came back in, we pulled out the snacks and watched A Christmas Story!

Todd's family always has paella on New Year's Eve and a few years ago, we adopted this tradition as well! While Todd and I cooked, the little people played:

After dinner, we all played some wii games before settling in for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

At midnight, Brandon was still awake, we were able to wake Nicholas, but poor Megan barely missed it falling asleep at 11:30 and not waking. She was wore out! (Me too!)

  1. You know, I just don't like NYE and I can't quite say why other than...I just don't like losing a year! Plus there's this weird pressure to DO something because you know everyone else is DOING something and it's just ANNOYING if you ask me :)

    But your night looked lovely!
Family fun--the perfect way to ring in any year, new or old!
