Scenes From a Good Day

So, yeah, Friday did turn out to be a good day :) The weather was good and the water was refreshing. Nicholas caught the only fish of the day but that didn't stop them from having fun out there. By the time I got there with the girls, they were starving ;) Here's our day in pictures:

After lunch, Todd offered to take the girls on a boat ride since the boys had already been out. Kristen wanted to go, but Megan just wanted to play in the water :) So Brandon went instead. That boy loves the water!
Nicholas and Megan played in the water:
and sand:
Megan makes friends everywhere she goes.
Those two played for quite a while :)

We did a little sunbathing:
and were entertained by the seagulls:
A very relaxing family day. Just what the doctor ordered ;)

Saturday Afternoon

Saturday, Todd took the boys to see Despicable Me. We had all gone together a week or two ago (it's fantastic!), but he really wanted to see it in 3-D and I since I can't do 3-D with my funky vision I was going to be home alone while he whisked the kiddies off to see it. At the last minute, pretty much when he was telling them he wasn't buying any movie candy (gasp!), Megan decided she would like to stay home with me ;) Kristen was at work and I was planning on getting some co-op work done or maybe working a bit on our curriculum choices for school, but I was glad to change my plans for a little time with just Megan :) We had a fun few hours!

While I made lunch, she made Mii's. I think that's her favorite part about the Wii!
We had salad for lunch:
We played Guess Who:
I thought it was very funny that three of our kids have their names on a Guess Who character!
And no we didn't name our kids after a board game :p

We snuggled on the couch and watched Backyardigans ;)
It was very nice to have her all to myself for a bit :) Everyone came home around this time and we spent most of the rest of the scorching hot day inside hanging out together. I praying for some more enjoyable temperatures!

What Happens When You Get a Group of Teens Together

They do crazy things like this!

Nicholas was second from the left and Megan is jumping to Kristen.

I lost track of how many goofy poses these kids did! They had such a good time jumping in again and again!

"Just Keep Swimmin', Swimmin', Swimmin'"

We made it out to my uncle's house to swim for a second time last week! After the whole, jumping-in-the-pool-to-save-Megan drama earlier in the week, it's a miracle we went back so soon! For those interested, my phone survived, Kristen's didn't. She's now the owner of a brand new phone ;)

Megan was very skittish about getting in the water. I thought if I kept her on the side with her feet in that she'd warm up to the idea but she remained afraid the entire time we were there only getting in if someone was holding her. I'm hoping to spend lots more time swimming this summer so hopefully all the pool time will relax her a bit.

We were joined this time by lots of friends! It's a tradition to swim at my uncle's house on the last day of VBS and all the kids really look forward to it. This year that meant there wasn't a shortage of girl's willing to carry Megan around the pool ;)

Sitting on the edge:

Finally she's in! Believe it or not, that's not Kristen holding her. Jon's sister could be Kristen's twin sometimes!

As you can see, Nicholas isn't having  ANY trouble when it comes to the water ;) That picture above was of him swimming by under the water, but one of our friends decided to get in on the picture action ;)

Did you notice that someone has reappeared in the photos??? You can sure tell when Kristen is on a break from school ;) Catching her sister:

These two spend alot of time just being in the water:

They really had a great time! More pictures to come!

What do You do With This Heat?

Days like yesterday, I wish we had a pool. I mean, I seriously LONG for one! Poor Nicholas, I don't think I've ever seen a sweatier kid. So the minute we got home, I told them to get their swimsuits on for this:
That's a Crazy Daisy. It flips around spraying everywhere! Of course, you can always just hold it, hosing your brother down with freezing cold water. Guess who did that? ;)

After that was another treat for hot, tired, hungry kids:

Such a wonderful beginning to summer :)

We're Home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our last day. The weather was better than it had been in days and Megan was feeling better so we spent most of the day outside! Megan mostly played in the sand by me and Kristen while the boys played in the ocean (Todd had to get the tire fixed...ugh). It was very relaxing! When Megan felt like getting in, I was happy to oblige!
Todd was back and able to join us when we switched to the pool :)
Megan was not about to get in this time. Sunday the water was so warm but by Tuesday it was freezing and stayed that way the rest of the week. Not sure what happened there. It seems unrealistic that a little rain would cool it down so much so maybe they added water or something. Regardless, the girls stayed out ;)
After all that swimming we decided we'd head to our favorite restaurant one more time.
Fun, fun fun! And the best grouper ever!

Aren't they an adorable bunch??
You can charter a fishing trip here as well and the owners have a golden retriever that we all love named Doppler.
Isn't he cute?? We're just a golden retriever lovin' family :)
Waiting for our food:
We're already planning our next trip back :)
