Happy Fourth of July!

Yesterday, we headed to Todd's parent's house for the afternoon for a Fourth of July picnic and a mini birthday celebration! The food was delicious and the company, wonderful :) It was really great to see everyone!

Then it was time to get wet! Megan forgot her bathing suit so I told her to try to not get too wet. See how well she listens?
Yep, I'm the boss around here! (that's sarcasm by the way. she was soaked!)
Then she watered the plants. We got to bring those bad boys home to play with in my uncle's pool :) I probably should start wearing my swim suit there ;)

Now here's where I failed. I didn't get anyone else's picture. I don't know what happened. The kids would do something cute, or I would see something to capture and I snapped it. I had a bit of brain fog from not enough sleep, but still! I can't believe I didn't make Russ smile for my camera once! (or Barb or Chris or Todd or really even Scott as I snuck the one I got ;)) Look out next time!

Belated Birthday
I had one more picture from my uncle's house to share. Kristen was out of town this year on her birthday. That was really no fun for us but that's just how it was. She came home to chaotic little birthday celebrations for her though, including being gifted by Grandma and the pool!

What Happens When You Get a Group of Teens Together
They do crazy things like this!

We made it out to my uncle's house to swim for a second time last week! After the whole, jumping-in-the-pool-to-save-Megan drama earlier in the week, it's a miracle we went back so soon! For those interested, my phone survived, Kristen's didn't. She's now the owner of a brand new phone ;)
Megan was very skittish about getting in the water. I thought if I kept her on the side with her feet in that she'd warm up to the idea but she remained afraid the entire time we were there only getting in if someone was holding her. I'm hoping to spend lots more time swimming this summer so hopefully all the pool time will relax her a bit.
We were joined this time by lots of friends! It's a tradition to swim at my uncle's house on the last day of VBS and all the kids really look forward to it. This year that meant there wasn't a shortage of girl's willing to carry Megan around the pool ;)

Finally she's in! Believe it or not, that's not Kristen holding her. Jon's sister could be Kristen's twin sometimes!
As you can see, Nicholas isn't having ANY trouble when it comes to the water ;) That picture above was of him swimming by under the water, but one of our friends decided to get in on the picture action ;)
Did you notice that someone has reappeared in the photos??? You can sure tell when Kristen is on a break from school ;) Catching her sister:

Our Summer List
We try to squeeze alot into summer. Alot of fun, alot of reading, alot of home-improvement, alot relaxing, and alot of family time. So when I saw this post over at Whatever (I love that blog!) I had to swipe it! She used the word "intentional" when telling about the reason behind the list and it's become my favorite summer word ever ;) We always have good ideas and intentions for the summer but summer seems so short and often it's the end and we didn't do half of what we'd wanted. A Cool Summer List was the answer! It's hanging right beside my desk so I can keep track of all the great things we wanted to do and intentionally plan them!
This is our summer list. There's even room at the bottom for more ideas ;) I had actually thought of something fun on the way home from dropping the kids off at VBS, but after I got home I couldn't remember it. See how much I needed this list! GAH!
A note about the "craft" listing; we've decided we'll have Craft Wednesdays. Choosing a day of the week made it more intentional (there's my favorite word again!) and gave me a day to have the supplies I need together. We'll probably do crafts other days as well, but at least Wednesdays! We've taken this week and last week off since they are at VBS for two weeks and doing crafts daily there, but we'll be back at it next week :)
We've checked a few more things off since I took this picture. I'm loving this list! It'll find a home in my filing cabinet at the end of summer for a forever record of all the fun we had :) Here's to an intentionally fun summer ;)
