Nicholas started cub scouts this year! He's been begging since last year but I had trouble finding a den/troop that met our needs. I even toyed with the idea of just starting one of my own. That wasn't really something I wanted to do. I just have too many irons in the fire right now and often don't feel that I handle all my current responsibilities well, so taking on something this big would probably have put me in the Loony Bin ;) So I leaned on Todd to find him a troop! And he did!
The troop is quite large but the boys are only all together at the beginning of the meetings then they split off into their "dens" which is figured according to what grade the boy is in. Nicholas is a Bear! Very fitting ;)
The boys must complete certain requirements to get their Bobcat badge before they can earn any other badges. Last night was the awards ceremony. The boys in Nick's den, who are new cub scouts, have been working hard for this!
There was a surprise in the ceremony. The parents got to paint the faces of their cub scout!
Being in front of all those people was so embarrassing for Nicholas. You can just see his discomfort in the pictures. Poor guy!
Doesn't he look thrilled??
Typical....
I think giving someone bunny ears made him feel better ;)
Even though you can't tell by these pictures, he was really excited to get his bobcat requirement! I had to pin it upside down on his shirt until he did a good deed and you know what?? Today, he was Good Deed Boy! :)
Now I have to get out my iron...
